Privacy notice
This notice explains, in plain English, what personal data ScootScan uses and your rights under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
The short version
- There are no user accounts yet – we don't ask for your name, email or any other details.
- We run no analytics and no advertising today, and set no tracking cookies.
- Your settings (such as light/dark theme and your order list) stay on your own device.
- Our hosting provider sees basic technical data (like your IP address) so it can deliver the site.
Who we are
ScootScan is an independent website run from the UK. Full controller details (name, address and ICO registration number) will be added here before accounts, analytics or advertising go live. Contact: hello@scootscan.co.uk (coming soon).
Hosting – Render
The site is hosted by Render (Render Services, Inc.), which delivers pages through a content-delivery network. When you visit, your browser sends standard technical information – your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested and the time. Render and its network providers process this to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, and may keep it in server logs for a limited period under their own policies. We don't use it to identify you.
Lawful basis: legitimate interests – running a website that works and is secure. International transfers: Render is based in the United States, so this data may be processed outside the UK, under the safeguards Render provides for UK data.
Data stored on your device
ScootScan stores a few settings in your browser's local storage so the site works the way you left it. This data stays on your device and is not sent to us. See the Cookie policy for the full list. You can clear it at any time in your browser settings.
Links to other websites
Supplier, manufacturer and manual links take you to other websites with their own privacy policies. Some links may be affiliate links; we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. If you follow an affiliate link, the retailer may record that you came from ScootScan.
Accounts, analytics and ads in future
If we add accounts, analytics or advertising, we will update this notice first, and anything that needs consent (such as analytics or advertising cookies) will only run after you accept it in the cookie banner.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of your personal data, and to have it corrected or deleted. You can also ask us to restrict or stop using it, object to how it's used, and ask for it in a portable format. Because we hold almost no personal data, most requests will be about our host's logs. If you're unhappy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
ScootScan sets no cookies of its own and uses no analytics or advertising cookies. Our hosting network may set a strictly necessary security cookie to protect the site from bots. Full details: Cookie policy.
Children
ScootScan is a technical reference for adults working on mobility equipment and isn't aimed at children.
