| Code | Meaning | Checks |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Batteries not charging | Park the lift at the charge point; check the wall switch and the lift's on/off switch; check other sockets for a power cut |
| 2 | Normal – no fault | Nothing to do. If it still won't move, check the key and the seat/arm position |
| 3 | Safety edge touched (footrest or carriage) | Drive the lift the opposite way a little, remove the obstruction, then carry on |
| 4 | Power key out or on/off switch off | Fit/turn the key and switch the lift on |
| 5 | Seat sensor not sensing a user, or downside arm not down | Sit back fully on the seat and lower the arm. UK page and US manual word this slightly differently – see QA |
| 6 | Seatbelt interlock (if fitted) not fastened | Fasten the belt fully |
| 7 | Seat not in travel position | Turn the seat back until it locks facing along the stairs |
| 9 or F | Engineer needed | Switch off/on once; if it returns, call Stannah. Note what the display shows |
